Who We Are

Practicecove is operated by Sempriva LLC, an Indiana limited liability company. We build tools to help musicians build consistent practice habits.

Eligibility

You must be 18 years or older to create a Practicecove account. A parent or legal guardian may create an account for use by a minor under their supervision and responsibility.

What We Collect

• Account information: email address, display name, and password (stored as a one-way hash — we never store your actual password)
• Practice data: journal entries including date, duration, notes, tags, mood, and self-rating
• Goals and milestones: your practice goals and progress markers
• Focus areas: specific topics or pieces you're working on
• Conversations: messages between you and the AI Practice Companion
• Settings: notification preferences, timezone, and AI access preferences
• Usage data: information needed to operate and improve the service (not sold or shared)

Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

• All personal content is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption — this means your data is unreadable in our database. Only you and the AI Practice Companion (during active use) can access it.
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (we never store your actual password)
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS
• Authentication uses httpOnly cookies (not accessible to JavaScript)

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide the Practicecove service — journaling, the AI Practice Companion, and progress tracking
• Improve the Practice Companion experience over time
• Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)

We never sell your data to anyone, for any reason.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data is used solely to provide the Practicecove service.

The only external service that receives your data is Anthropic's Claude API, which processes your chat messages to generate Practice Companion responses. Anthropic does not use your inputs or outputs to train their models.

Your email address is never shared with the AI. The Practice Companion sees your display name and practice data — never your email address or login credentials.

We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or any other third-party tracking tools.

Instructor Sharing (Future Feature)

In a future update, you may choose to share practice summaries with a music instructor. This will always be opt-in and never automatic — you will control exactly what is shared. No data will be shared with any instructor unless you explicitly choose to do so.

Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Export your data — download everything we have about you in a machine-readable format, at any time, from your account settings
• Delete your account — permanently remove your account and all associated data
• Update your information — correct or change your profile, settings, and preferences

We don't gate these rights by geography. They're available to every user.

Cookies

Practicecove uses a single httpOnly authentication cookie to keep you logged in. This is a functional cookie required for the service to work — it is not used for tracking or advertising.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies.

Data Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed. We do not retain backups of deleted accounts.

A minimal audit log (recording that a deletion or export occurred, but not the content) is retained for legal compliance.

Children's Privacy

Practicecove accounts are for users 18 and older. A parent or legal guardian may create an account for use by a minor under their direct supervision.

If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental involvement, we will delete that data promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
